Introducing Olivia!!!!

Our lives were blessed yet again on November 6, 2008 at 11:08 a.m. We welcomed Olivia into the world. She weighed 8 lbs. 7 ozs. and 20 1/2 inches long. Alan was in the OR with me and got to watch the entire thing, of which he enjoyed every minute. They let him move around the room and take pictures. He was able to stay with Olivia while the pediatrician checked her out. She received an 8 on her Apgar at 1 minute after birth and a 10 on Apgar 5 minutes after birth. I was able to touch her and kiss her for a few minutes while Alan held her. Then I had to go to recovery and she went to the nursery. I stayed in recovery for about 30 minutes and then headed to my room. They hadn't even bathed her yet because she was acting very hungry so I got to nurse right away. It was amazing that less than 1 hour after her birth, I was able to nurse. I didn't even see Abby until about 8 hours after she was born :( We stayed at the hospital until Sunday afternoon. Alan stayed with me except for Saturday night because I wanted him to be home with Abby. Abby has been a wonderful big sister so far and such a big help. There are no signs of jealousy yet so I am hoping that it continues this way. Olivia had mild jaundice and was on the bililight at the hospital starting Saturday and we had to bring the biliblanket home. She is done with the lights now! She is a great baby and I am loving being the mom of 2!!! Alan went back to work on Thursday so I have been on my own the past 2 days and it has been busy but great! Here are a few pictures (Shauntelle....sorry to keep you waiting!)....

37 weeks and 4 days!!!

Sorry it has taken us so long to post an update. Abby has been catching every illness since starting preschool so we have had a rough start to fall. She is doing well right now, so hopefully we are in the clear for a little while. She is still LOVING preschool...they just had their fall pictures taken, here is one that I took at the house after school that day.

Here is also a recent belly picture...not too cute :)

At my 36 week ultrasound, Olivia was weighing in at 6 lbs. 5 ozs! However, I don't know how accurate it is at this point. They could NOT confirm gender so we are going to be in for a big suprise if Olivia comes out a Jack! I just went back to the doctor this past Thursday and everything is great. We only have one appointment left before the big day. As of right now, I am scheduled as the second c-section of the day so they are approximating 9:30 a.m. to begin. I won't know for sure until the day before (11/5). Well, that is all about us except for one more thing....I couldn't update the blog without showing a picture of Alan's new do (or lack there of).......

Update

Today was my 32 week doctor's appointment. Everything went well. I am measuring right on track and the baby's heartbeat was strong and healthy. I am scheduled for a repeat c-section on November 6th! The countdown has begun! At 36 weeks, I will have another ultrasound to measure the size of the baby. We are all very curious about this since Abby was a giant!! My plan is to work up until the very end so I am counting down my days. I am looking forward to being home with Abby and Olivia for 12 long weeks (14 if you count Christmas break!!).

Abby is doing great at preschool. She loves it and has learned so much already. She is also doing gymnastics twice a week and dance once a week. She keeps a busy schedule for a three year old but she enjoys it all. That is all our news for now, thanks for reading!!!

Big Day!

Well, today was a big day for Abby. It was her first day of preschool. We had open house last night and she was very excited about everything. BUT....she was not happy about us having to wake her up this morning. We thought we put her to bed in time but she was still grumpy! Once we got to school, she was thrilled and said she wanted to stay. What a relief! Alan had today off, but I had to go to work. She only stays at school until noon, so Alan got to pick her up. I called her and this is how she summed up her day: They said the pledge and prayer, danced, colored a rainbow, had goldfish for a snack. She said her favorite part of the day was when they told her it was time to go "bye-bye". First, she told me she wasn't sure if she wanted to go back tomorrow but then later she said she wanted to go back. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a good day for her. I am so proud of her and how big she is getting.

We're Back!

Sorry it has taken us so long to post. Things have been busy and we have all been tired since getting back from Disney. We had a great time, especially Abby. Seeing her face when she saw Cinderella's castle for the first time was more than I could imagine. We did lots of things during our short stay: Magic Kingdom (from 8 a.m. until 10:30 p.m), Bibbidi Boppidi Boutique, Dinner in Cinderella's Castle, Chef Mickey's, Animal Kingdom, Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review, and Typhoon Lagoon. Abby's favorite ride was "It's a Small World". She rode lots of rides, met and got autographs from all of the characters. Bibbidi Boppidi Boutique in the castle was a HUGE hit. She was able to pick a princess costume, have her hair, nails, and make up done all by a Fairy-Godmother-In-Training! We were all sad to leave but look forward to doing it all again, next time with Olivia! We have posted a slide show above but there are a ton of pictures so don't feel like you have to view them all :)

Getting ready

Well, we are trying to get a hang of this blogging thing. We are trying to make our page look cute and keep up with Shalyse and Shauntelle's which are very impressive!!! We have been working hard during Alan's 4 days off this week to get the nursery ready. I would really love to have it done before going back to work in August. Abby has been a huge help with sorting baby clothes and picking things out for her little sister. Hopefully, this is a good indication of how things will be when her sister finally arrives.

We (especially Abby) are also getting excited for Disneyworld! We leave in exactly 18 days! I made Abby a paper chain at 58 days out to keep track of the days so she is excited about how much shorter it is now! It will be a short but busy 4 day vacation. Not quite sure what I was thinking booking a trip to Disney in July while being 6 months preggo but I know it will all be worth it just seeing Abby's face when she sees Cinderella's castle! That is all for now, will post some pics soon!

Baby Maddock

Okay, everyone has been asking me to start a blog for our second baby. So here it is!!! All we know so far is that it is a GIRL! Alan is a little sad because he really wanted a boy this time around, but he is getting ready to be the only man in the house anyway (besides Pugsley). We haven't picked out a name yet.... We are throwing around a few and trying to see what "sticks." That's all for now! I'll post more later.
